Ventimiglia, May 2, 2023 – After the great success of the photography exhibition “Food” by Steve McCurry at Forte dell’Annunziata, the highlight of the “Beyond Food” event series, which last year turned Marina di Ventimiglia into a destination for cultural and gastronomic events of high class, Marina Development Corporation (MDC) presents “Marina di Ventimiglia – Events under the Stars” for the summer of 2023. This festival will feature three highly renowned names in the national and international artistic scene.

From Saturday, July 1, to Saturday, July 8, the Cala del Forte Arena – a new and captivating location specially set up by MDC in collaboration with Cala del Forte on the Ventimiglia waterfront – will host the events with 900 numbered seats.

There is great anticipation for the opening of the program, entrusted to the most prominent black voice in the Italian music scene: Mario Biondi. On Saturday, July 1, at 9:00 PM, he will perform with his extraordinary band, presenting some of the hits that have led him to tread the most important stages worldwide. Starting with the now-classic songs from the multi-platinum album “A Handful of Soul,” which is internationally renowned, the singer-songwriter will also present new unreleased tracks during the summer tour, which will be included in his upcoming album to be released next autumn. Max McCane and Laura Groggia will open the concert for Biondi, a blues formation with many years of performances and tours in European and American circuits.

On Friday, July 7, at 9:30 PM, it will be the turn of Fiorella Mannoia, an icon of Italian singer-songwriters, who will stop by “Marina di Ventimiglia – Events under the Stars” with her show “Luce” after its debut in June at the Terme di Caracalla in Rome. The new tour, which once again features the great jazz pianist Danilo Rea, will create an extraordinary show in which the talent of these two exceptional artists will be “illuminated” by a multitude of candles surrounding them on stage, creating a suggestive and powerful atmosphere. It will be a unique live performance where the repertoire and successes of Fiorella Mannoia, along with the melody of the songs and the jazz improvisation of Rea, come together in a perfect sonic alchemy capable of enchanting audiences of all ages.

Closing the festival is one of the most followed comedians of the moment and a regular presence on Zelig: Antonio Ornano. On Saturday, July 8, at 9:30 PM, he will perform his recital “Anthology,” a natural stand-up comedy act without scenic embellishments or disguises, which marks an overview of the career of the Ligurian comedian, from his early experiences to the monologue shows he has performed in theaters in recent years.

These activities will culminate only with the realization of the important projects awaiting approval from the Regional Authorities for the development of Borgo del Forte, a waterfront hotel-residential destination, and Borgo del Forte Campus, which will regenerate the Campasso area with an international school, sports facilities, and a large urban park.
